I can not believe it has been a YEAR since I brought my recovery blog here to host on WordPress!
We sure have had some Awesome times here together WP, and one little “spanky” thanks to a hacker, but then the music of recovery continued! The WordPress folks here sure do Blogging Right. I’m so happy to be a part of this fantastic blogging community!
.
I know that the topic of “Addiction & Recovery” can be a bit boring at times, but if who we are in recovery don’t share our story, our testimony of where we have been, to where we are today in recovery, others would never learn that anyone can recover from any addiction and give insights as how to succeed, then the stigma of addiction carries on. We need to share the work that needs to be done, and the tools and skills we need to use each day to a better way life! It’s the purpose of this blog, my book, and why I write, speak out, blog, raise awareness, and try to inform the public about the dangers of becoming addicted to gambling.
.
.
I had been on another hosting site for about 2 years, just before my book “Addicted To Dimes” ( Confessions of a liar and a cheat ) was released on Amazon, and Barnes and Noble.
I wanted to be able to continue my recovery journey and my story, as a way to be of recovery service to others who also suffer from “Compulsive Addicted Gambling.” But when I moved my blog to WordPress, it actually helped me become more of an advocate for gambling, and all types of addictions as I began to blog and share more of what I’d been through, as gambling does have a Dark Side.
.
I have grown so much as a writer, blogger, and recovery author here on my blog. A lot of that I give credit to the folks here at WordPress. Blogging here has helped me embrace some of my fears, walk through them, and allowed me to be more comfortable to share more about living with mental illness and disorders, help me heal a bit more from the childhood trauma and abuse I had been through as a little girl.
.
We never know what the future holds for us in this thing called LIFE. When I was around 25, I would never have imagined me going through all I had been through in life with an addicted gambling disease. It had taken me to some pretty dark and scary places in my life. NO one should have to go through what I did because of gambling, as I also over indulged in alcohol as well when I gambled. But my real demon was addicted gambling.

Janet,…..Thanks so much. I have grown a lot this past year in my recovery and in writing! I hope the 2 books I’m almost done with will help many more. 🙂
And be a bit better and polished as a writer. I’m playing around with titles for the next book, a follow-up to Addicted To Dimes?……How about……. “Addicted To Dimes part 2” ( Confessions of how to Recover Baby! )….LOL!!
Thanks for being such an inspiration to me Janet 🙂
Hugs & Blessings,
Catherine Xo

Or maybe the title for the next book should be “Addicted to QUARTERS” – LOL! (Well . . . I guess it would be a bit of a nod to the progressive nature of addiction. When the old stuff stops “satisfying” we have to move on to something bigger, more frequent, or riskier . . . quarters are definitely BIGGER. . . and RISKIER 🙂
